Saskatoon Berry Pierogies

Ingredients

  • Pierogi Dough

  • 4 ½ cups Frozen Saskatoon Berries or Blueberries

  • ½ cup Sugar

  • ½ cup Flour

  • ¼ cup Butter

  • 2 ½ cups Milk

  • 1 tsp. Salt

Directions

  1. Into a saucepan melt butter and stir in flour – add milk 1 cup at a time, whisking until thickened – stir in salt – remove heat and set sauce aside

  2. Combine berries, sugar, flour into mixing bowl

  3. Onto a floured surface roll pierogi dough thinly, cut into 3” circles

  4. Scoop 2tsp of berries into pierogi dough – pinch and crimp edges of pierogi dough closed

  5. Boil pierogies 5mins until they float – garnish with berry sauce

  6. Can be stored in freezer bags for several months
